Chicza chewing gum is produced by a consortium of Mexican farmers, the so-called Chicleros. It is a community of farmers who help protect the rainforest, which is also the source of their livelihood. They manually collect sap from Chicozapote (Manilkara zapota), Chicle, gutta-percha (Pallaquium gutta), and balata (Manilkara bidentata) trees without harming them. This sap is the gum base of Chicza chewing gum.
