Chicza chewing gum is produced by and consortium of Mexican farmers, the so-called Chicleros. It is and community of farmers who help protect the rainforest, which is also the source of their livelihood. They manually collect sap from Chicozapote (Manilkara zapota), Chicle, gutta-percha (Pallaquium gutta), and balata (Manilkara bidentata) trees without harming them. This sap is the gum base of Chicza chewing gum.
